Human
A fragile, bipedal, smooth-skinned race of beings found in many settlements, often in positions of authority, throughout the world. Typically standing fifteen to twenty hand-lengths tall at maturity, their skin is coated in a very fine layer of hair, with concentrated amounts typically located about the face and head. Human muscular build varies, and senses of sight and hearing are considered generally inferior. Humans are born with very little magical affinity, and must discover and power it through focused training beginning at a very early age, although their physical fighting prowess is notably high and potent. Humans reproduce at an average rate of one per year, much lower than races such as the Fih'jik; however, their resilience generally allows them to typically live to their maximum lifespans, and beyond.
Humans gain +10 to any health pool of their choice and +1 to recovery rate.
Shra
A semi-civilized race of reptilian beings, most standing sixteen to twenty-four hand-lengths tall on average, possessing gray or beige underscales with many shades of primary scale possible. Eye color varies greatly as well, but most tend to be yellow. Shra also possess a tail nearly one-half of body length as well, and several horns from the sides of the back of the head. These horns are useful for determining age, as some Shra have been reported as nearly 500 years in age. Premature Shra are always hornless, growing the first two at maturity. These split into four horns at a later age, and, if the Shra survives long enough, into six at old age, although this is extremely rare. Shra also possess an array of scent glands just beneath the skin at most of the major joints of the body, as well as the base of the tail and on the palms and soles. Shra never reach a 'peak' size; that is, they tend to continue growing until death.

Fortian
Less of a differing race as much as an advanced, orderly style of living embraced by its followers, the Fortians are noted as a people of enhanced intellect and magical affinity. The typical Fortian resembles a human (and, in fact, may share a common ancestral link), but is typically a few hand-lengths taller, with paler skin, smaller amounts of hair, and much greater magical attunement with lower bodily muscle mass. Most Fortians are considered 'true' Fortian-blooded, and follow this general description; however, people from other races who exhibit an interest in earning Fortian citizenship are encouraged to participate in intellectual and elemental affinity aptitude tests and swear devotion to a life of research and scholarly living to become immigrated Fortians. Fortian people can always be identified by their distinctive eyepieces, worn at all times, which serve as a signet of Rank among many Fortian schools of mastery.
From a very early age, Fortians exude a superior mastery over elemental magic, much higher than any other races on the average. Many Fortians dedicate their entire lives to perfecting their control over their latent magical abilities, and also contribute significantly to the development of magical power in other, less talented races. The Fortian civilization is divided into two major cities just east of the Illusory Coast; Fortifel, the city of the world's noted scholars and spell shapers; and Sanctifel, a 'sanctuary' where Fortians deemed as possible disruptions to the channeling focus present in Fortifel are allowed to live so as to not interfere with the near-daily breakthroughs occurring within the capital.

Fih'Jik
A race of balanced, lithe beings averaging fifteen to twenty-five hand-lengths tall and usually covered in a coat of short, fine hair varying in neutral-tone shades. Eyes are almost always brightly colored, somewhere between blue and green. Both eye and fur color are hereditary. Fih'jik possess a highly flexible tail about one-third their body length, also coated with hair. Males have rounded ears and manes of long, off-colored hair emerging from the back of the neck. Females typically have more pointed ears and lack the mane. Fih'jik have four-fingered hands (the only prominent race without five) and an equal number of clawed toes on the feet. Muscular in frame and highly resourceful, the Fih'jik are expert builders and artisans, and exhibit strong religious tendencies, occasionally subdued when traveling abroad. Fih'jik reach maturity quickly; sometimes in as few as five years, but tend to have a shortened lifespan as a result. Fih'jik language is very rigid, and has remained mostly unchanged for hundreds of years, yet some words from their language have been carried over into Human language, much to their chagrin. For instance, the Fih'jik word 'cat', meaning a Fih'jik child, was borrowed into Human language as a nickname for the domesticated creature which resembles a young Fih'jik.
